What is Mission? Our basic assumption, based on scripture, is that the whole church must be involved in mission. We therefore should not consider mission a hobby or a pastime in which to be involved occasionally or when we can spare some time. It isn't just a once-a-year preoccupation characterized by an annual Mission Sunday or missionary conference. Nor should it be regarded as one of the many interests and departments of the church. Mission is not an option, it is a mandate. The whole church must be occupied with it.
I challenge you to be involved, not only locally, but nationally, and with our overseas partners. (from the reflections of the Moderator of the 132nd General Assembly, Wilma Welsh)

“God, the Eternal Creator, weeps for the poor, displaced, mistreated, and diseased of the world because of their unnecessary suffering. Such conditions are not God’s will.
Open your ears to hear the pleading of mothers and fathers in all nations who desperately seek a future of hope for their children. Do not turn away from them. For in their welfare resides your welfare.”
